New Indoor Turf/Multi-Purpose Building & Athletic Fieldhouse
New Indoor Turf/Multi-Purpose Building & ...
The Dawson-Bryant Local School District is excited to announce that in the upcoming weeks we will be breaking ground on a new Indoor Turf/Multi-Purpose Building, as well as an Athletic Fieldhouse!  These two buildings will benefit all our students across a variety of activities. The Indoor Turf/Multi-Purpose Building will sit at the North end of campus near the High School, and the Athletic Fieldhouse will sit at the South end of campus near the Middle School. This project is expected to take one year to complete.

The Indoor Turf/Multi-Purpose Building will be utilized by every student who passes through Dawson-Bryant Schools. Every extracurricular group will have access to this facility for practice and training purposes. The band, flag corps, cheerleaders, gym classes, and many more will take advantage of this space. There will also be an auxiliary classroom that can be utilized for academic instruction, team meetings, or meetings/events for any other student activity group (Prom Committee, Student Council, Math Club, CYA, Quiz Bowl, Yearbook Committee, etc.). The indoor turf field will have retractable batting cages for baseball and softball and will be lined/striped for both football and marching band purposes. There will also be much-needed storage for the baseball and softball programs, as well as the marching band program. This building will have its own restroom facilities.
The two-floor Athletic Fieldhouse will house middle school and high school football locker rooms, along with middle school and high school boys/girls track locker rooms. The Athletic Fieldhouse will also feature a new weight room, training room, coaches offices, film room, laundry, restrooms, much-needed storage for multiple extracurricular groups, and even an indoor golf simulator for the middle school and high school boys/girls golf teams.

The Dawson-Bryant Board of Education and administrative team are excited about this opportunity for our students. This project is something we have talked about and planned for almost 20 years, and it’s finally coming to fruition. Please excuse any mess or inconvenience over the next year, as the end product will be more than worth it. Thousands of students will benefit from these facilities for decades to come. It’s a great time to be a Hornet! Go Big Grove!

Mission Statement
The mission of Dawson Bryant Local School District is to ensure that each student who leaves the schools is an independent, self-motivated learner, has the basic tools and the self-confidence to be successful in life, and has behavioral traits to be a happy and contributing citizen.

The Dawson-Bryant Local School District is located in the beautiful Appalachian Foothills of Lawrence County, in Southeastern Ohio. The community, in which the school district is located, was once a thriving pig iron and coal producing community. In fact, the village of Coal Grove, the center of the community and district, is named for the coal industry. The pride of the school and community remains as a significant feature of the residents.

Pride in the community is the most significant feature because it continues to be the bond between the residents and their schools. The school buildings are considered to be the hub of the community. School and extracurricular activities are the main source of social interaction between young and old alike.
